TerraClear CEO Devin Lammers Explains Whole-Field Drone Mapping on KCIM and KIKD

TerraClear CEO Devin Lammers joined KCIM and KIKD in Carroll, Iowa, to explain how whole-field drone mapping helps farmers find more rocks and spray weeds with precision. Listen to the interview:

Why put a camera on every acre?

Farming has always run on what you can see from the cab or find walking a field. Lammers noted that a 3,000-acre corn farm holds about 100 million plants. No one can see or remember all of that. TerraClear images every acre instead.

How does whole-field drone mapping work?

The grower adds field boundaries in the TerraClear app. A drone pilot images the entire field at 1.5mm resolution. An edge computer processes the data right in the field, and the finished map lands in the app the next day on average.

What farmers get from a TerraClear map

TerraClear Rock Maps

With a TerraClear Rock Map, farmers find about 3x more rocks than they spot by eye. Each rock comes with a precise GPS location, a size, and an optimized route, so farmers pick about 3x faster.

TerraClear Weed Maps

TerraClear Weed Maps find weeds as small as 1/4″ in corn and soybeans. The precision plan loads into sprayers with section or nozzle control, so farmers can use up to 80% less herbicide. Estimate your savings with the TerraClear Weed Savings calculator.

What makes TerraClear different?

Satellite imagery can’t see an individual weed. Some providers image only samples of a field, but you can’t treat a weed you never imaged. TerraClear maps the whole field, not a sample. Most growers use it as a service, with contract pilots flying their fields, so there’s no equipment to buy.

How do I get started?

TerraClear has mapped millions of acres to date. TerraClear Rock Maps are available now, and TerraClear Weed Maps for corn and soybeans are booking acres for next season. Download the TerraClear app on the App Store or Google Play, or contact TerraClear.
