You can order rock and weed maps for the 2027 season right in the TerraClear app, and there are two ways to do it. If you’re ready, pick your fields, choose when you want them flown, and pay at checkout, all in one sitting. If you want the best price of the year but aren’t ready to pick fields, buy acre credits now and spend them when you order.
This guide walks through both paths with screens from the app, plus the dates and rules that matter for 2027.
Key takeaways
- Order maps in one sitting: pick your fields, choose when you want them flown, and pay at checkout.
- Or buy acre credits early to get the best price of the year, then use them when you order.
- One acre credit covers one acre of one map, either a Rock Map or a Weed Map. Every Weed Map includes a stand count.
- 2027 pricing runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Fields must be flown by September 30, 2027.
- Pay by credit card or US bank account.
- Once your field is ready, you’ll usually have your map in one to three days.
What are TerraClear acre credits?
An acre credit is prepaid mapping for one acre. You buy credits at the current seasonal price, then spend them when you order a map. One credit covers one acre on one map.
Credits work on either map type, one acre at a time. A 160-acre field takes 160 credits for a TerraClear Rock Map. If you also want a TerraClear Weed Map on that field, that’s another 160 credits. You can buy your 2027 mapping acres now and decide later which fields get which maps.
Acre credits are bought for a specific farm. They cover TerraClear Rock Maps and Weed Maps only, and they’re non-refundable.
You don’t have to buy credits first. If you’re ready to order, pick your fields and pay at checkout in one step.

How does 2027 pricing work?
TerraClear prices 2027 mapping in seasonal tiers. The earlier you buy, the lower your price, so buying early gets you the best price of the year.
The list price is $3.95 per acre mapped. Seasonal tiers come in below list. The app shows the current tier and when it ends on the acre credit dashboard. For the latest numbers, check the app or the TerraClear pricing page.
Your price applies to the acres in that purchase. If you buy 500 acres now, those 500 acres keep this season’s price even if you fly them next summer. Acres you buy later are priced at whatever tier is current when you buy them.
Fall pricing: $3.40 per acre through December 31, 2026.
Have a discount code? Enter it at checkout. Both the acre credit and map order flows have a spot for it, right before you see your total and pay.

How do I order a Rock Map or Weed Map?
Pick your fields, choose a target flight month for each one, and check out. Each checkout covers either Rock Maps or Weed Maps, so order each map type separately. If you have acre credits, they apply at checkout. If you don’t, you pay right there.
- Get your field boundaries in. Draw them in the app or upload a shapefile. If you get stuck, a TerraClear mapping specialist can help.
- Start a Rock Map or Weed Map order. The map type applies to every field in that checkout.
- Pick your fields and set a target flight month. Choose ASAP or a specific month for each field. Use Apply to All to set one month for every field at once.
- Review the order and check out. Use your acre credits, or pay at checkout.

How soon will my map be ready?
Once your field is ready, you’ll usually have your map in one to three days. Most of that time is getting a pilot to your field. After the flight, maps arrive the next day on average.
Your target month is a request. TerraClear schedules flights around weather and when your field is confirmed to be ready.
What you get back depends on the map:
- TerraClear Rock Map: every acre you ordered, mapped, not sampled. Rocks 8″ and larger appear at their GPS-pinpointed location with a pick plan you can follow from the cab or a side-by-side. See our guide to GPS for rock picking for what you need on your end.
- TerraClear Weed Map: a whole-field weed map that catches weeds as small as 1/4″, a stand count, and a precision plan for sprayers with section or nozzle control.

How do I check my acre credit balance?
The acre credit dashboard shows your remaining acres, the total 2027 credits you’ve bought, and a history of each purchase and field order.
Each order in the history lists the credits used, the date, and the field name, so you can see how many acres you have left to order.
Which fields qualify for each map?
A TerraClear Rock Map works on any field where rock is visible from the air: bare soil, residue, stubble, or early emergence. A TerraClear Weed Map works on corn, soybeans, and bare ground.
| TerraClear Rock Map | TerraClear Weed Map | |
|---|---|---|
| Field conditions | Bare soil, residue, stubble, or early emergence | Corn, soybeans, and bare ground |
| What it finds | Rocks 8″ and larger | Weeds as small as 1/4″, plus a stand count |
| What you get | Map with GPS-pinpointed rock locations and a pick plan | Weed map, stand count, and precision plan |
| Proven results | Growers find about 3x more rocks and pick about 3x faster | Use up to 80% less herbicide with the same control |
| Credits | 1 per acre mapped | 1 per acre mapped |
Bare ground covers fields with no crop up yet, such as a burndown pass before planting. Results vary by field and weed pressure. Does every Weed Map include a stand count?
Yes. A stand count is a standard part of every TerraClear Weed Map, through V2 soybeans and V4 corn. It counts emerged plants across the whole field, so you can check emergence without walking sample rows.
A hand count only sees a small slice of the field. Iowa State University’s corn replant checklist has growers count plants in at least three places, measuring 1/100 of an acre at each, and walk a zig-zag so the counts represent the field. That method works, but it’s still a sample. A TerraClear Weed Map stand count covers every acre you mapped, so a thin strip or a low spot shows up instead of hiding between sample sites.
Penn State Extension’s guide to assessing corn and soybean populations is a good reference for what to do with the numbers.
Is there a minimum order?
Your first purchase of the year has a 240-acre minimum. After that, there’s no minimum. If your first order is under 240 acres, talk to a TerraClear map specialist. Smaller orders can sometimes be flown on the same day as nearby farms.
What are the key dates for the 2027 season?
2027 pricing applies to acre credits and map orders from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Fields on 2027 orders must be flown by September 30, 2027. You can still order after June 30, 2027, at the next season’s pricing.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| July 1, 2026 | 2027 pricing starts for acre credits and map orders |
| June 30, 2027 | Last day to buy acre credits or order maps at 2027 pricing |
| September 30, 2027 | Last day for 2027 fields to be flown |
Should I buy acre credits now or wait until spring?
If you know you’ll map in 2027, buying early gets you the best price of the year. You don’t have to fly early to buy early. Credits bought this fall can go toward a spring Rock Map or a Weed Map once the crop is up.
A TerraClear Rock Map flown this fall shows the rock in your field this fall. It won’t show the new rock that frost heave pushes up over the winter. Some growers map in the fall anyway to get ahead of a big pick. Others buy credits now and fly in spring. Either way, buying before spring gets you a better price. Our fall rock mapping guide covers the tradeoffs.
For weeds, the decision is simpler. Your Weed Map gets flown when your field is ready, so the only question is what price you pay for those acres.
