Clearing rocks out of fields probably isn’t something we’re all super familiar with, but it’s a very real problem for farmers. Like a lot of agricultural solutions we’ve seen crop up in the past few years, tech is providing an answer. TerraClear uses drones, neural networks, maps with geolocation and robots to make life easier for farmers by finding and picking up rocks. Since its launch in late 2017, TerraClear has raised $13 million.
This summer we had the opportunity to host three young and promising field operations and marketing interns at our testing facility in Grangeville. At the beginning of their internships, we directed them to never be afraid to ask lots of questions, voice their opinions, and get their hands dirty! If you are interested in joining our team as an intern, email us at email@example.com
TerraClear provides farmers with the tools to rapidly clear a field of rocks with just one operator.
Automation has become an increasingly critical factor in agriculture and smart farming over the last decade. By utilizing advanced technologies such as smart sensing, machine learning, and robotics, farming processes can be optimized in many innovative ways. With a true mission to make farming easier and increase productivity, TerraClear is developing an end-to-end automation system which focuses specifically on automating rock removal. By using a computer vision-controlled system to map terrain and identify the size and location of rocks embedded in the soil, the heavy lifting is done by automated machinery which saves farmers a lot of time and money.
